
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun Several routes will remain diverted due to the proposed arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Dehradun on November 9 on the occasion of the 25th State Foundation Day. The traffic management plan, covering both the programme invitees and general public will be effective from 6 AM to 4 PM on Sunday. The Dehradun superintendent of police (Traffic) Lokjeet Singh said that the police have made traffic plans for all those participating and not participating in this Devbhoomi Rajat Utsav. As per the plan issued by the traffic police, authorities strictly prohibit the entry of vehicles other than those designated for the programme or emergency services near the FRI venue. For programme invitees and dignitaries, the Police department has established specific routes and parking areas. Vehicles arriving from Rishikesh, Haridwar, ISBT or GMS Road carrying attendees must travel through Mohkampur, Seemadwar, Saharanpur Chowk and Ballupur Chowk. Authorities designated Friday parking inside the FRI campus for these vehicles. Vehicles approaching from Mussoorie, Kuthal Gate or Dehradun city area will use GMS Road to reach Ballupur Chowk or take the alternate diversion via Sai Mandir, Kathbangla and IT Park. Singh stated that attendees travelling from Vikasnagar, Paonta Sahib or Saharanpur must use Vikasnagar, Premnagar and Ballupur Chowk or the diversion via Selaqui, Premnagar and Ballupur Chowk. Authorities assigned parking at the IMA grounds for all invitees’ vehicles coming from the Mussoorie and Vikasnagar sides. The police have also made strict diversions for the general public and non-attending vehicles. Vehicles coming from Haridwar, Rishikesh, Doiwala, Jolly Grant, Kashipur or Moradabad must divert at Mohkampur Chowk and proceed via Badripur, cross the Rispana Bridge and continue through Tehri House and Aaraghar to reach the city. The alternate route uses Dharampur Chowk, moving through Matawala Bagh and East Canal Road before reaching Survey Chowk. Traffic from Mussoorie, Kuthal Gate, or Rajpur will use Kandli, proceed to Hathibadkala and divert toward Vasant Vihar via GMS Road or use Ballupur Chowk and GMS Road with movement permitted only up to Survey Chowk on the direct route. The SP informed that vehicles entering from ISBT, Delhi or Saharanpur must travel from Ballupur Chowk toward GMS Road, proceed to Hathibadkala and reach Kandli, though authorities restrict movement up to Ballupur Chowk on the main road. Besides this, authorities have announced the entire event’s route as a No Parking Zone and stated that illegally parked vehicles will be towed immediately. All Heavy Goods Vehicles will also be banned on entering the city from 6 AM to 4 PM. The Police department will allow movement of all essential services as per the protocols. The SP urges the public to use public transport for movement within the city during this period and requests cooperation to ensure smooth traffic flow.
