Dehradun, 17 Dec: A poster making competition centred on the theme of energy conservation was organised today at the Doon International School’s Senior Wing. The event was held under the “Jigyasa” programme of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Government of India, in joint collaboration with the CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum and the Society for Research and Development in Science, Technology and Agriculture. Students from various schools across the city participated with great enthusiasm.
During the event, 26 students from different schools were presented with attractive prizes, mementoes, and award certificates for their creative contributions. Director of the Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dr Harendra Singh Bisht, who attended as the chief guest, distributed the first, second, and third prizes.
In an inspiring address to the gathering, he explained the various forms of energy to the students and underscored the vital importance of energy conservation in daily life. The vote on thanks for the programme was proposed by Principal Dinesh Barthwal. The winners were selected by a distinguished jury comprising Professor Hariom Shankar from DAV(PG) College, Neha Saxena from SGRR University, and Anita Devi from Doon International School. The competition was divided into two categories: the first for students of classes 6 to 8, and the second for those from classes 9 to 12. The winning artworks will be displayed at Doon International School during the upcoming Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM).
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Doon School Coordinator Kajal Chhetri. The event saw the presence of Organising Secretary Kunwar Raj Asthana, Jigyasa Programme Coordinator Aarti, and team members Jyoti Porwal, Kamal Kumar, Anjali Bhatnagar, Sapna Painuly, Sanjay Kumar, Gokul Kumar, and Pankaj Bhaskar.
