PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are likely to visit Dehradun to attend the functions to mark Uttarakhand’s 25th Foundation Day. Though the PM’s visit on November 9 has not been officially confirmed yet, the police and the Bharatiya Janata Party have begun preliminary preparations for the occasion. BJP State president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt told The Pioneer that the PM’s visit is not officially confirmed yet. However, senior party leaders and district units have started coordinating with local authorities to ensure all arrangements are in place if the visit is finalised. Modi has shown a consistent interest in Uttarakhand over the years, often linking his visits to the State’s religious, cultural and developmental projects. His efforts helped boost pilgrim turnout at Kedarnath and brought Adi Kailash in the Kumaon region to national and global attention as a spiritual and tourism destination. With the 25th Foundation Day marking a milestone in the State’s journey since its formation in 2000, political observers believe that Modi may make significant announcements this time as well. The visit also comes ahead of the 2027 Uttarakhand Assembly elections, making it politically significant for the ruling BJP. Party functionaries expect that Modi’s presence could further strengthen the organisation’s reach and engagement with local voters. Meanwhile, President Murmu is also expected to visit Dehradun on November 5 as part of the State’s Foundation Day week. According to sources, the police and administration have started reviewing security and logistical arrangements for both VVIP visits. The security deployment will be intensified after the Deepawali celebrations conclude, as the State prepares to receive both the President and the PM in the same week, sources said.
