PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami instructed the officials concerned to focus on increasing student attendance in the institutions under the Higher Education department. He issued this direction to departmental officials during a review meeting held here on Thursday. He stated that special attention should be given to promoting vocational, entrepreneurship and employment-oriented education. Dhami highlighted the importance of skill development for youth after obtaining their degrees, aiming to connect them with employment opportunities. He also instructed officials to provide training in foreign languages and skills based on the demand for human resources abroad. The goal is to arrange training that aligns with the requirements of various countries by collaborating with foreign embassies to ensure that skilled human resources are available for overseas employment. Additionally, the CM discussed the significance of quality, employment-oriented education in higher education and recommended that professors receive training in modern technology. He stressed the need for teaching aids to make educational activities engaging and emphasised ensuring adequate availability of books in university and college libraries, as well as the proper arrangement of essential equipment in laboratories. Dhami proposed organising tours under the State’s Bharat Darshan Yojana for meritorious students studying in universities and colleges to visit major institutions across the country. He urged efforts to integrate as many universities and colleges as possible into the NAAC grading system and to accelerate the upgradation of higher education in the state in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. To improve the future of children in higher education, he said that linking the curriculum to innovation and seeking cooperation from reputed institutions known for their excellence in education. Further, he stressed the need to enhance the e-library system so that competitive exam and academic course materials are easily accessible to students at no cost. He also asked the official for the commencement of professional courses in colleges. Shift from e-culture to playground culture, says Dhami DEHRADUN: Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasised on the need to shift the growing elecronic-culture  among the youth towards a playground-culture. He said his during a review meeting on the game changer schemes of the Youth Welfare department held here on Thursday. Dhami stated that youth should be engaged in sports at the local level to promote their physical and mental development. He advocated for training in adventure sports, as well as pre-recruitment training for the army, paramilitary, and police forces. To support their future, Dhami emphasised establishing counselling centres to guide youth on education, employment and other important aspects. Additionally, he called for regular awareness programmes to prevent drug addiction among young people. CM further stressed the importance of maximising the use of all sports facilities under the department while ensuring their proper maintenance. He recommended organising local cultural activities in all the multipurpose halls across the state alongside sports events. Dhami directed that players who perform well should be provided with maximum facilities and quality training. He also instructed the chief secretary to regularly review the game changer schemes and assess the action plan aimed at improving existing programmes, ensuring that eligible individuals receive maximum benefits. Further, he announced that MLA sports competitions would be organised in all state assemblies, providing a platform for players and an opportunity for emerging talents to showcase their skills.
