PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun The State Election Commission (SEC) has announced the dates of re-elections for the three tier Panchayat elections in the State. The re-election for the polling stations and booths in the first phase of voting (July 24) will be held on July 28 and the second phase of voting (July 28) will be held on July 30. The order of SEC mentioning the schedule of re-election created confusion on the election dates. In order to clear the confusion, the SEC stated that holding re-election is a normal process and the voting for first and second phase of the election will be held on July 24 and 28 respectively. The secretary of the SEC, Rahul Kumar Goyal said that the re-election will be done only when voting could not be held due to any eventuality ( natural or any other) on the scheduled dates of July 24 ( first phase) and July 28 ( second phase). For the polling stations of the first phase the re-election will be held on July 28 while for the second phase, the re-election will be held on July 30. He said that the voting for re-elections if required due any reason will be held between 8 AM to 5 PM. The secretary clarified that the schedule of holding re-elections are declared in every election. He appealed to the voters that there should be no confusion on the dates of the Panchayat elections.
