PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun Several opposition leaders, public representatives and social workers from 12 Vidhan Sabha constituencies formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party here on Sunday. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the BJP State president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt said that all the people are uniting to achieve the aim of a developed nation. “Such a large number of people from various Vidhan Sabha constituencies joining the party due to its ideology and achievements of the ‘double-engine’ government shows that the people of Uttarakhand fully trust the BJP. Those who indulge in the politics of lies and confusion should see this picture to learn how one can win the trust of rivals too with positive politics. A number of public representative and office bearers from the Congress, UKD, BSP and independents have joined the party along with social workers, ex-servicemen and employees. This shows a wave in favour of the BJP ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections,” the BJP State president said. Those who joined the party from Pauri constituency include municipal council chairwoman Himani Negi, former district Panchayat head Kishore Singh Negi and others. From Chamoli district, Mahila Congress State general secretary Renu Negi, Dewal block Pramukh Tejpal Singh Rawat and others joined the party. From Uttarkashi and Purola constituencies, Gram Pradhan Balbir Singh Rawat, retired deputy ranger Mahesh Rawat, retired captain Harikishan Rawat and others joined the party. Similarly, a number of serving and former public representatives, political office bearers and others also joined the BJP from Karnprayag, Tharali, Ghansali, Rishikesh, Roorkee, Rajpur and Kotdwar constituencies. BJP MLAs Khajan Das, Madan Kaushik, Premchand Agrawal, Shakti Lal Shah, Durgeshwar Lal, Rajkumar Pori, Anil Nautiyal, Bhopal Ram Tamta and others were also present on the occasion.
