Kotdwar, 16 Jun: Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker and Kotdwar MLA Ritu Khanduri Bhushan today gifted the residents of Kotdwar with two important new transport services by inaugurating Uttarakhand Transport Corporation bus routes from Kotdwar to Gopeshwar and from Kotdwar to AIIMS Rishikesh. She flagged off both buses amid enthusiastic participation from local residents.
Addressing the gathering, Ritu Khanduri Bhushan stated that prioritising public convenience remains her commitment and that continuous efforts are being made in this direction. She noted that the demand for a direct bus service between Kotdwar and AIIMS Rishikesh had existed for many years. Patients, their attendants, and others traveling to Rishikesh for medical treatment often faced significant difficulties in commuting. The launch of this direct service will provide safer, more accessible, and convenient transportation for the public.
She emphasised that AIIMS Rishikesh is a major healthcare centre serving not only Uttarakhand but the entire region. A direct bus service from Kotdwar to AIIMS will offer substantial relief to residents by eliminating the need to change vehicles multiple times, thereby saving both time and money.
The Assembly Speaker further stated that the launch of the Kotdwar–Gopeshwar bus service will strengthen connectivity among various regions of Garhwal. The service is expected to benefit passengers, students, government employees, traders, and tourists by making travel easier and more efficient. She added that the state government remains committed to strengthening transportation infrastructure and introducing services that meet public needs.
Ritu Khanduri Bhushan highlighted that Kotdwar serves as the gateway to Uttarakhand and is an important commercial and educational centre. Therefore, ensuring better transportation connectivity from the city to different regions is essential. She expressed confidence that a large number of residents would benefit from these new bus services and enjoy more comfortable and convenient travel.
She thanked the officers and employees of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation for their contribution to this achievement and reaffirmed that public welfare initiatives would continue to receive priority. She also extended her congratulations and best wishes to the residents on the launch of the new services.
The event was attended by officials of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation, District BJP President, Kotdwar, Raj Gaurav, Mayor Shailendra Rawat, Mandal President Vikas Shadeep Mittal, Vijay Nand Pokhariyal, Satish Gaur, Mandal President Prema Khantwal, Ashish Rawat, Sunita Devi, Aditya Tripathi, Rajendra JJD, Pramod Kestwal, and a large number of local residents.
