Dehradun, 22 Dec: Vice Chairperson of the Uttarakhand Culture, Literature and Art Council, Madhu Bhatt today addressed a press conference at the Secretariat Media Centre here today at which she announced that a symposium and exhibition dedicated to the personality and contributions of former Prime Minister of India, Bharat Ratna awardee the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, will be organised under the aegis of the Council.
Bhatt shared that the inaugural ceremony will take place on 24 December at 10 a.m. at the Sanskriti Department’s Auditorium in Dehradun, after which a symposium will be held in every assembly constituency from 25 December onwards.
Madhu Bhatt stated that the purpose of the event is to disseminate the ideals of Vajpayee, his vision of good governance and his thoughts expressed through poetry to the younger generation. She emphasised that literature, poems, and reflections associated with the life of Vajpayee will be exhibited during the programme. She also added that senior citizens who have had the opportunity to work with him or under his leadership will also be honoured as part of the proceedings. A Kavi Sammelan along with diverse cultural programmes will also form an integral part of the symposium.
She further informed media that during the symposium, various government departments will set up stalls to provide information about public welfare schemes currently being implemented. In addition, stalls showcasing products from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) will be established to encourage local entrepreneurship. Individuals who have made notable contributions in the field of environment will also be felicitated during the course of the event. She asserted that the symposium would not only celebrate Vajpayee’s legacy but also promote civic awareness and community participation in Uttarakhand.
