Friday, 06 September 2024 | my uttarakhand news | DEHRADUN The governor Lieutenant General (Retd) Gurmit Singh has said that teachers will play an important role in making the country developed and a world leader by the year 2047. He was addressing a programme organised on the occasion of the Teachers day at Rajbhawan on Thursday.  He along with chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and education minister Dhan Singh Rawat gave away Shailesh Matiyani State education awards-2023 to the selected teachers. A total of 19 teachers were conferred the award.  The governor said that the awarded teachers are the role models and source of inspiration for others. He said that the teachers have a major role in shaping the future of the country and the students. The governor advised the teachers to continuously update themselves with the new technology and focus on quality education. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that apart from imparting education, the teachers should also help in building the personality of the students and inculcate moral values in the students. Stressing on the importance of moral education, the CM said that it is the duty of the teachers to revive the moral values in the society.  He said that the role of the teachers has increased further in the present day digital age. The CM said that the teachers help in connecting the students with the culture.  He said that the education department should connect teachers with innovations. The CM also made an announcement of increasing the reward money in the Shailesh Matiyani award to Rs 20,000 from existing Rs 10,000. The education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the quality of education in the State has improved. He gave a detailed account of the innovations undertaken by the department.  Education secretary Ravinath Raman, director general education Bansidhar Tiwari, secretary Sanskrit education Deepak Kumar and others attended the programme.
