
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Uttarkashi The three-day Uttarakhand Rajat Utsav to mark the silver jubilee of Uttarakhand’s formation was inaugurated at the Joshiyada parking on Monday. The event was inaugurated by the Gangotri MLA Suresh Chauhan in the presence of Information director general Banshidhar Tiwari and Uttarkashi district magistrate Prashant Arya. A digital exhibition was also inaugurated on the occasion. The exhibition displays the development story of Uttarakhand through the digital medium along with interactive games and modern technology. Tiwari said that focus is being laid on making the younger generation aware of Uttarakhand’s history while also raising public awareness on various welfare schemes of the government. The first day of the event saw various activities including competitions in drawing, dance and Rangoli. Students from various schools in the districts and women participated enthusiastically in these events. A cultural programme was organised in the evening during which noted folk artist Ajay Bharti and his group presented folk dance and songs. The Nrityangan group performed a dance drama based on keeping the Ganga clean. Writer Mahaveer Rawalta, social worker Ram Singh Rana, Chandramohan Singh Panwar of Gangotri Physical Academy and environmentalist Suresh Bhai were also felicitated on the occasion. The event organisers said that various competitions will be held for children and women in the coming days of the event along with cultural evenings.
