
PIONEEREDGE NEWS SERVICE | Rudraprayag Two persons died and three others were injured when a massive boulder fell on a vehicle on the Kedarnath highway in Rudraprayag district on Monday morning. The accident occurred around 7:15 AM in the Munkatiya landslide zone, located between Sonprayag and Gaurikund, a known area prone to rockfalls. The Bolero vehicle, carrying 11 passengers, had departed from Sonprayag heading towards Gaurikund when the stone crashed onto it from the hill above. Two passengers lost their lives on the spot, while three sustained injuries of varying severity. Rescue teams, along with local residents, rushed the injured to Sonprayag Hospital, and those with serious injuries were referred to higher medical centers for treatment. Police have warned travelers to exercise extreme caution on the Kedarnath route, especially in landslide-prone areas like Munkatiya, as unpredictable weather and unstable terrain continue to pose serious risks.
