PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that by implementing the Uniform Civil Code, the State government has paid true tribute to BR Ambedkar. He said that after the implementation of the UCC, the rights of all citizens in the State have become equal. The UCC has ensured an end to the discrimination in the society. He was addressing a programme organised to felicitate him for implementing Uniform Civil Code (UCC) at his residence here on Monday. Terming his honour as the honour for the people of Uttarakhand, the CM said that the dream of UCC in Uttarakhand could be realised only with the blessings of the people of the State.  He said that the rights of women have been protected in the UCC and by making registration compulsory for live-in relationships, the safety of daughters has been ensured. The CM expressed confidence that the wave of UCC generated from Uttarakhand will spread to the entire country.  “Our ideology has been based on values like social harmony, cultural consciousness and national unity,” he said. The CM said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to celebrate November 26 as the Constitution Day. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the major places associated with the memories of Ambedkar are also being developed as Panch Teerth of national consciousness. He said that the State government has taken decisions such as strict anti-riot law, anti-conversion law, and Operation Kalnemi.  The CM firmly said that the State government will not allow the demography of the state to change under any circumstances.  Former governor and ex-CM Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Sadhvi Renuka, Swami Niranjan Chaitanya Maharaj, vice chairman of Disaster Management Advisory Committee Vinay Ruhela, MLA Suresh Gadiya, MLA from Safipur (Unnao, Uttar  Pradesh) Bamba Lal Diwakar and others attended the programme.
