PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun  The Uttarakhand government has decided to provide five per cent relaxation in passing marks for students with intellectual disabilities, mental illness, autism, spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy and specific learning disabilities in the examinations of the Uttarakhand Vidhyalayi Shiksha Parishad (UVSP). A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the State cabinet held at the State secretariat on Thursday. The students under these categories will be considered pass if they achieve 28 per cent marks in the UVSP examination of 2027. In an important decision, the cabinet chaired by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami approved the proposal of the Transport department to provide free travel to national and state-level award-winning sportspersons in the buses of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation. In another decision, the cabinet approved the proposal of the Social Welfare department to increase the annual family income limit for the free coaching scheme for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students from existing Rs two lakh to eight lakh. The cabinet also decided to recommend to the Government of India to change the name of a Scheduled Tribe of the State listed in the sixth schedule of the Uttar Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2000, from ‘Jannsari’  to ‘Jaunsari’. The cabinet also endorsed the proposal to implement a one-time settlement (OTS) scheme for the speedy disposal of pending stamp cases in the State.  The decision is likely to ensure speedy and transparent disposal of stamp cases, recovery of revenue and relief to parties from interest and penalty liability. About 3,600 stamp cases are pending in the courts of the Stamp Collector and Revenue Councils in the financial year 2026-27. In another decision, the Cabinet approved the proposal to set up Uttarakhand Adventure Tourism Corporation Limited for planned, safe and sustainable development of adventure and eco-tourism in the State.  The proposal to change the name of the Bharan Poshan Anudan Yojana – a maintenance grant scheme for destitute women, widows and abandoned married women- to Mukhyamantri Ekal Nari Samman Yojana was also approved by the State cabinet in its meeting. A decision to upgrade the pay scale of the junior engineers of the Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (UREDA) was also taken in the meeting of the State cabinet.  A decision to restructure the organisational structure of all 13 District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) in the State was also taken by the Cabinet. After restructuring, 48 posts in each DIET will be reduced to 44.
