
PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that there is a very good potential of geothermal energy in Uttarakhand. He was addressing the ‘All India Oil Sector Meet’ at ONGC community centre here on Saturday. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the State government is encouraging use of green energy while striking a balance between ecology, economy and technology. The CM said that clean and green energy is being promoted in the State under the chief minister solar self-employment scheme. The State is fast emerging as an energy hub due to the Tehri, Koteshwar, Peepalkoti, Lakhwad, Vishnugad and other hydropower projects. The State government is also working in the field of geothermal energy. The CM said that the natural resources help in carrying forward any nation on the path of development. He said that ONGC is providing 70 per cent of the crude oil production and 84 per cent of natural gas production in the country and is contributing significantly in the energy security of the nation. Dhami said that PM Modi has put forward a commitment of Atmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat and the nation is moving forward on the vision of a developed India in 2047. He said that the country has set up a petroleum stock for its energy security and promotion is being given to green hydrogen and solar energy. Work in developing alternate sources of energy. Praising ONGC, the CM said that extension is being given to the gas pipelines under the ‘one nation, one grid’ system. The schemes such as Ujjwala have ushered in a social revolution. India has increased its investment in the oil and natural gas sector in the foreign countries, he averred.
