my uttarakhand news | DEHRADUN Uttarakhand will become the first State in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) on January 27. The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will announce formal implementation of the UCC in the State by unveiling its regulations and inauguration of the UCC portal in a programme at his residence on the day. In a letter directed to additional chief secretary, principal secretaries, secretaries, additional secretaries, director general of Police and all additional DGs, inspector generals and deputy inspector generals of the State, the home secretary Shailash Bagoli has asked them to attend the ceremony at CM’s residence at 12.30 pm on January 27. It is pertinent to mention here that CM Dhami had announced implementation of UCC in the State in the month of January, 2024. Interestingly the new law is being implemented in the State, a day before the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the State. The PM will visit Uttarakhand on January 28 to declare the 38th national games being hosted by the State, open.
