Haridwar, 13 Mar: The Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel, HD Kumaraswamy, inaugurated the newly constructed 5 MW solar power plant at BHEL Haridwar, on 12 March. The Minister dedicated the solar power plant to the nation, in the presence of K Sadashiv Murthy, Chairman and Managing Director of BHEL, and Ranjan Kumar, Executive Director of the Haridwar Unit.
Addressing the gathering, Kumaraswamy stated that the Government of India is continuously striving to promote clean energy and environmental conservation. He also lauded the efforts being undertaken by BHEL in the field of green energy. K Sadashiv Murthy remarked that this solar power plant is a significant step for BHEL in the field of green energy. Ranjan Kumar stated that the power generated from this plant will help to meet the organisation’s internal energy needs.
Kumaraswamy also flagged off the 53rd SRGM naval gun manufactured at BHEL Haridwar. He stated that this naval gun represents a significant step towards realising the goal of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ within the defence sector. It is worth noting that this naval gun can engage a variety of targets in air and water, within a range of 35 kilometres.
The Union Minister also inaugurated a 30-ton electric arc furnace at BHEL Haridwar’s CFFP unit. The Minister remarked that this furnace, established by BHEL, would prove instrumental in meeting the requirements of the country’s heavy industry sector. This state-of-the-art electric arc furnace will help produce high-quality steel, significantly improving efficiency of large-sized castings and forgings.
Minister HD Kumaraswamy also flagged off an 800 MW rating TG stator manufactured for Unit -1 of Raipur project of Adani Power Limited. Kumaraswamy hailed the successful manufacturing and dispatch of the stator, as a prime example of BHEL’s technical excellence. This stator has been manufactured using indigenous technology and in accordance with high quality standards.
The Minister also interacted with BHEL employees on a variety of topics. GMs, senior officials, representatives of union and association and large number of employees were present on the occasion.
