
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Haridwar Urmila Sanawar, who claims to have evidence in the Ankita Bhandari murder case met the police in Haridwar on Thursday, a day after recording her statement with the Dehradun police. Sanawar reached the Special Operations Group (SOG) office here where the Special Investigation Team had summoned her for questioning. The police had made tight security arrangements during her visit. According to sources, the SIT asked her questions in detail about her social media posts, public statements and other aspects related to her purported revelations. Sources further revealed that the investigation agency is attempting to ascertain the facts behind the claims made by Sanawar in her social media posts. A day ago, the Dehradun police had also questioned her on these aspects. The police have stressed that the matter is being investigated in an impartial manner, based on facts that have come to light. Further action will be based on facts after completion of the investigation. The authorities have also appealed to the public to not pay attention to rumours and to cooperate with the authorities in the probe. It will be recalled that Sanawar had released audio clippings of her conversation with her alleged husband and former BJP MLA Suresh Rathore in which he is purportedly heard claiming that a senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader was the “VIP” allegedly involved in the Ankita Bhandari murder case. The BJP and State government have stressed that the State government is ready for any probe based on credible evidence. The opposition and the Bhandari family members are seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the case.
