PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun The annual budget of Uttarakhand for the financial year 2026-27 is likely to be to the tune of Rs 1.10 lakh Crores. The State cabinet in its meeting held on Wednesday endorsed the Uttarakhand Appropriation Bill -2026-27 (budget). It is learnt that the State government has effected a 10 per cent increase in the budget for next financial year which means that the Pushkar Singh Dhami government will table a budget of Rs 1.10 lakh crore in the house during the upcoming Budget session of Vidhan Sabha in Bharadisain, Gairsain in Chamoli district. The cabinet also authorised the CM for making necessary changes in the budget document. In other decisions, the State cabinet approved the proposal to set up three more Fast Track Special Courts (FTSC) for expeditious trial and disposal of rape and pending cases under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) act. In another decision, the cabinet gave its approval for creation of 14 new posts of court managers (one for Nainital High Court and 13 district courts) in the State. The cabinet also endorsed the decision to set up a High Power Committee (HPC) and Project Management Unit (PMU) and creation of 21 temporary posts for the Strengthening of Public Financial Management for Improved Service Delivery (SPFM) in Uttarakhand project. The project will help in strengthening the public finance management system and public service delivery system in the State. The SPFM project is in continuation of the World Bank funded UKPFS projects for public finance management in the State. The SPFM is a five year long Rs 850 crore project under which Rs 680 crore will be received as loan from the WB. The Union government and the State government will repay the long term loan in the 90: 10 ratio. The Uttarakhand Jan Vishwas (amendment) Ordinance- 2025 which aims to remove obsolete and redundant provisions of law was also brought before the cabinet which gave its approval for its presentation in the Vidhan Sabha as a bill.
