Uttarakhand cabinet expansion: New ministers allotted departments – my uttarakhand news

After being a subject of prolonged discussion in Uttarakhand politics, the picture regarding the cabinet expansion has finally become clear. Following the Governor’s approval on Sunday evening, portfolios were allocated among the ministers. In this new arrangement, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has once again firmly retained the reins of power by keeping several key and sensitive departments under his own charge.

Although the Chief Minister previously held charge of over 35 departments, his portfolio has now been streamlined to encompass 18 major departments. These include crucial ministries such as Home, Finance, Revenue, Energy, Excise, and Industrial Development. Additionally, any departments that have not been allocated to other ministers will also remain under the Chief Minister’s purview.

Who Received Which Responsibility?

The new faces inducted into the cabinet expansion have also been entrusted with significant responsibilities. Madan Kaushik has been assigned departments such as Panchayati Raj, Disaster Management, and AYUSH, while Khajan Das has been given charge of Social Welfare and Minority Welfare. Bharat Singh Chaudhary has been entrusted with Rural Development and MSME, whereas Pradeep Batra will oversee the Transport and IT departments. Ram Singh Kaira has been allocated departments such as Urban Development and Environmental Protection.

Changes in Portfolios of Veteran Ministers

Changes have also been made to the portfolios of the veteran ministers. Satpal Maharaj has been assigned major departments such as Public Works, Tourism, and Irrigation, while Ganesh Joshi will handle Agriculture and Sainik Welfare. Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat will head over all key departments related to Education. Subodh Uniyal has been assigned the Forest and Health departments, while Rekha Arya will oversee Women and Child Development, along with Food Supply and Sports. Saurabh Bahuguna has received departments such as Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, and Skill Development.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dhami stated that his government’s four-year tenure has been dedicated to service, good governance, and public welfare. He expressed confidence that the new team, driven by a blend of experience and a spirit of public service, would live up to the expectations of the people of the state.
