PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Moving forward in the direction of GST-II reforms, the Finance department of Uttarakhand released revised GST rates for major consumer goods and services in the State on Friday. These rates will be effective from September 22.  The Finance secretary Dilip Jawalkar said that in accordance with the decisions taken at the 56th meeting of the GST Council, the union government issued various notifications regarding tax rate determination on September 17. “In the same vein, Uttarakhand also issued notifications on September 18, 2025, regarding the determination of tax rates on various goods and services. The changes in tax rates made through these notifications will be effective September 22, 2025,’’ he said.  These notifications simplify tax rates and reduce tax rates on most goods, especially consumer goods, by eliminating the 12 per cent tax slab. Tax rates on certain luxury items have been increased from 28 per cent to 40 per cent. The tax rate on common consumer goods like hair oil, toilet soap, bicycle, toothpaste, toothbrush, biscuits, and confectionery items has been reduced from 18 to five per cent. Similarly the GST on physical wellness services including gyms, salons, Yoga centres has been reduced from 18 to five percent. The tax rate on butter, cheese, snacks, dried fruits, handicraft items, kitchenware, utensils, tableware, pharmaceuticals, marble and travertine blocks and granite blocks and agricultural goods and agricultural machinery have been reduced from 12 per cent to five percent. The GST on air conditioning machines, 32-inch televisions, dishwashing machines, small cars, and motorcycles with a capacity of 350 cc or less has been reduced from 28 to 18 per cent. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the union government has significantly reduced GST rates across the country. He said that GST-II will not only provide relief to consumers but also boost the economy. The CM said that the reduction in GST rates for most services and goods will provide significant relief to consumers during the festive season.
