my uttarakhand news | DEHRADUN Uttarakhand received Rs 4,641 crore in the Railway budget 2025-26 that marks a reduction from the Rs 5,131 crore received in the previous fiscal year. During a video Press conference on Monday, the Union Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for allocating Rs 2.52 lakh crore to the country’s railway sector in the 2025-26 budget.  He said that Uttarakhand has been allocated Rs 4,641 crore that aims to strengthen the railway network across the State. He said that the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag rail project is one of the central government’s ambitious projects which is being built with a total budget of Rs 24,659 crore. He informed that 49 per cent of the 125 kilometre project has been completed. He also said that 96 per cent of the work of Deoband- Roorkee rail line is also complete. This 27.5 kilometre railway project is being built at a cost of Rs 1,053 crore. Besides this, 63 kilometre Kichha- Khatima rail line will also be built at a cost of Rs 228 crores. He said that between 2014 and 2025, 69 kilometres of new railway tracks have been laid in Uttarakhand. Besides this, 303 kilometres of railway lines have been electrified during this period and at present, every railway line in the State is electrified, he said.  Vaishnaw said that 11 railway stations, including Dehradun, Haridwar Junction, Harrawala, Kashipur Junction, Kathgodam, Kichha, Kotdwar, Lalkuan Junction, Ramnagar, Roorkee and Tanakpur, are being developed as Amrit Stations at a cost of Rs 147 crore. Talking about railway safety, he informed that the Kavach system has also been recommended for 49 route kilometres in the State.
