PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun In a significant decision aimed at promoting production of green and clean energy, the Uttarakhand government has formulated the ‘ Uttarakhand Green Hydrogen policy 2026’. The State cabinet in its meeting held on Wednesday approved a proposal in this regard.  The meeting was chaired by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.  Informing about the decision of the cabinet, the director general (DG ) Information Banshidhar Tiwari said being a clean energy and industrial fuel, Green Hydrogen will be helpful in achieving the target of net zero emissions. He said that natural resources such as hydro power are available in abundance in Uttarakhand which can be used for producing Green Hydrogen. It will also help in employment generation and development of the State, he said. The decision of the Uttarakhand government is in sync with National Green Hydrogen Policy 2022 and National Green Hydrogen Mission 2023 of the government of India.  In another important decision, the State cabinet endorsed the proposal to hand over the Chinyalisaur (Uttarkashi) and Gauchar ( Chamoli) airstrips to the Indian Air Force. The decision follows high level meetings between the State government and the Ministry of Defence for joint operation of these air strips for civil and military purposes under the advance lending ground (ALG) leases.  The cabinet also approved the proposal to give one time relaxation to such health workers ( Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery) and supervisors who have completed five years of satisfactory service for transfer from the district they are posted. This transfer will be on the basis of mutual understanding of the employees and will be allowed only once in the entire service period. In another decision, the cabinet also approved the proposal to allow the State Infrastructure and Industrial Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (SIIDCUL) to sub-lease the land of Parag farm in Udham Singh Nagar district for a period of three years. The government had handed over 1354.14 acres of land of PARAG farm to SIIDCUL in March last year. The cabinet also approved the plan to revise the water cess rates on the use of ground water for non-agriculture and government drinking water projects. The proposal to set up a GRD Uttarakhand university in Dehradun was also approved by the cabinet on the day.
