According to the weather forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department, Dehradun, due to the activity of the monsoon in the coming days in Uttarakhand, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in several districts, and extremely heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms at some places. The weather department has issued an orange alert for Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, and Chamoli districts on August 9, and for Dehradun, Bageshwar, Nainital, and Champawat districts on August 10. According to the weather department, on August 9, there is also a possibility of intense rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in other hilly districts of the state. Meanwhile, considering the possibility of heavy rainfall at some places in Dehradun, Rudraprayag, Nainital, and Champawat, and thunderstorms with lightning in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar, a yellow alert has been issued. On August 10, along with the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Dehradun, Bageshwar, Nainital, and Champawat, there may be thunderstorms and extremely heavy rainfall. In other districts of the state as well, there will remain a possibility of intense rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning at some places. Considering the possibility of heavy rainfall at some places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Tehri, Pauri, Pithoragarh, and Udham Singh Nagar, a yellow alert has been issued. In view of the weather conditions, Secretary of Disaster Management and Rehabilitation, Shri Vinod Kumar Suman, has directed all concerned districts to take necessary precautions and remain on 24×7 alert mode. All concerned departments have been instructed to ensure the availability of necessary resources and equipment at their level, as well as to take immediate action to clear routes in case of road blockages. In addition, officials and employees have been directed not to switch off their mobile phones during this weather period, to keep essential safety equipment with them, and to immediately inform relevant officials and the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) of any disaster information. Secretary of Disaster Management and Rehabilitation, Vinod Kumar Suman, has appealed to the residents of the state and tourists to take the weather department’s warnings seriously and avoid taking unnecessary risks.
