PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun It is very important to maintain alertness on the India-Nepal border and for this purpose the State government is working with complete coordination with the Central government security agencies. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said this while meeting the officers and jawans of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) near the border with Nepal at Banbasa in Champawat district on Sunday. The CM’s visit comes at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan continue to simmer following a ceasefire violated by the neighbouring country hours after its announcement on Saturday. Strongly condemning Pakistan sponsored terrorism, the CM called the attack on tourists in Pahalgam an act of cowardice. The armed forces have given a befitting reply to this act of terror, he said. The people of India have displayed unity and nationalism at this time, which is more powerful than any weapon, Dhami added. Appreciating the courage, dedication and discipline of the SSP jawans, Dhami said that the soldiers posted on the borders are the nation’s pride. The borders of the nation are impenetrable due to Indian security forces and securing these are the nation’s topmost priority, he said. The CM enquired about the infrastructural facilities at the border posts along with the communication systems and other facilities available to the jawans. He also directed the officials concerned to ensure necessary improvements. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the title of ‘first village’ to border area villages like Mana, as these are the first identity of the nation’s borders and culture. We thank all the jawans posted for the security of such villages and the nation’s borders,” he said. Dhami also interacted with the SSB jawans and learnt about problems, experiences and the ground situation. SSB DIG Amit Sharma, Champawat district magistrate Navneet Pande, Udham Singh Nagar district magistrate Nitin Bhadauriya, Udham Singh Nagar senior superintendent of police Manikant Mishra, Champawat superintendent of police Ajay Ganpati and officers of the SSB were also present on the occasion.
