Dehradun, 18 Aug: Senior BJP leader Vivekanand Khanduri has issued a statement demanding immediate action on pay revision for the retired state employees, the teachers and other government workers in Uttarakhand. In his statement, Khanduri has reminded that during a meeting with the Chief Minister on 15 August, he had submitted a request letter highlighting discrepancies in the implementation of the national pay increase effective from 1 January 2006. He has now appealed for the issuance of a revised government order without delay.
Khanduri pointed out that despite the Sixth Pay Commission introducing a new system of pay increase from January 2006, retired employees in Uttarakhand have not been granted the national pay hike from the day following their retirement, unlike in Uttar Pradesh, where a government order dated 12 June 2024 had already addressed the issue. He noted that the Uttarakhand Cabinet, in its December 2024 meeting, had also not fixed any cut-off date for the pay increase.
Referring to the Supreme Court’s final order dated 20 February 2025 and the Government of India’s Department of Personnel and Training office memorandum dated 20 May 2025, Khanduri stressed that no cut-off date had been prescribed in the national pay increase directive. He urged the state government to align its orders accordingly and ensure that retired employees receive their rightful benefits.
