
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Haridwar Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the government is working to make Uttarakhand the spiritual capital of the world. Participating in the religious and cultural festival organised at Jeevandeep Ashram in Roorkee on Friday, the CM said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the prestige of India’s ancient culture has increased worldwide. He listed the construction of the grand Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, the reconstruction works in Badrinath and Kedarnath, construction of Kashi Vishwanath corridor and Mahakal temple area as historic steps towards the renaissance of cultural consciousness of the country. Paying respect to saints, religious leaders and devotees present, the CM said that the ascetic community is like a living pilgrimage site, which inspires society towards the right path. Dhami averred that the State government is working with the resolve to make Uttarakhand the spiritual capital of the world. Important initiatives are currently underway which include the beautification of the Kedarkhand and Manaskhand temple areas, the restoration of the Yamuna Tirth site, the construction of the Haridwar-Rishikesh corridor, the Sharda Corridor, and the establishment of the Centre for Hindu Studies at Doon University. He said that the State government is fully committed to protect the cultural values and social fabric of Uttarakhand. Anti-conversion laws and strict anti-riot laws have been implemented in the State, he said. Dhami said that action has been taken against land, love and spit Jihads and more than 9,000 acres of government land has been freed from the encroachers so far. He said that the State has implemented Uniform Civil Code. The CM added that more than 250 illegal Madarsas involved in illicit activities were sealed and a new law was enacted to abolish the Madarsa Board in the State. He said that under Operation Kalanemi, strict action has been taken against those who defame Sanatan Dharma. He expressed confidence that with the blessings of saints and public support, Uttarakhand will certainly establish itself as an ideal State of the country. Chief minister’s wife Geeta Dhami said that Jeevandeep Ashram is working for the welfare of the society. On this occasion, Mahamandaleshwar Yatindranand Giri of Juna Akhada expressed his gratitude to the CM and the people for attending the programme. Secretary of the Akhada Parishad Ravindra Puri and other ascetics attended the ceremony.
