Workshop held on ‘Decoding the New Labour Codes’

Dehradun, 11 Dec: The Dehradun Chapter of ICWA & Laghu Udyog Bharti, Uttarakhand, organised a workshop on “Decoding the new labour codes & Opportunities for CMA professionals at Hotel Pearl Grand, here, today.
The key speaker CMA Chitaranjan Chatopadhyay explained the New Labour Codes to a joint group of CMAs and entrepreneurs of Uttarakhand. Chatopadhyay delivered a lecture. Chief Guest Dy Labour Commissioner Umesh Rai, in an interactive session, provided detailed information on the four new Labour codes. He informed the house that the central government has brought 4 new labour codes replacing 29 complicated labour acts, making it easier for industrialists and business enterprises to comply with the new codes. He said the Inspector Raj would be eradicated with these codes and the inspectors will now act as facilitators to the industry and business. He also added that in spite of inspectors and labour office doing the assessment in old regime, the new labour codes will provide the business owners power to do self assessment and the labour department will accept it.
Key speaker CMA Chitaranjan Chatopadhyay explained how the Cost and Management Accountants will be benefited with these new labour codes. The practicing cost accountant will have wider scope of professional practice.
Vijay Singh Tomar, State Chairman of Laghu Udhyog Bharti, said, “Industry and labour are complementary”. He thanked the central government for making labour laws easier to comply with. Labour Commissioner Umesh Rai added that in spite of several returns and registers there will be significantly lesser returns and registers to be maintained.
Answering to the questions of the audience, Rai cleared the doubts but also said that it will take some time to adhere to the new codes. In a nutshell the new codes will not only help protect the rights of the organised and unorganised labour but will also boost the social security health issues and many more benefits for, both, the labourers and industry.
CMA Amitabh Maitra, Chairman RERA, and CMA Manoj Kumar Anand, CCM, were the Guests of Honour. Both also shared their thoughts on the New Labour Codes.
Secretary of the Chapter Sanjay Gupta proposed the vote of thanks. Acting Chairman of the Institute Amit Kansal thanked the fraternity for organising the workshop.
CMAs Neha Joshi, Vishal Davar, Anucrat Talwar, Gautam Chhetri, Divesh Jindal, HP Sharma, SP Singh, and Satpal Singh Gandhi were present from the ICWAI Dehradun Chapter and Pradeep Khanduri, Rahul Dand, Umesh Kumar, Rajesh Jaiswal, PN Yadav, Kamaljeet Sharma, Rakesh Malhotra, Travindra Bhatt, & Umesh Mehta were present from the Laghu Udhyog Bharti.
