Mussoorie, 2 Nov: The beauty of the mountains lies not only in their towering peaks and cool breezes but also in their lush greenery, forests, and natural heritage. Carrying a message to safeguard this heritage, the youth of Mussoorie raised their voices for environmental conservation on the town’s Mall Road, today.
The Rotaract Club of IMS Unison University, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Mussoorie, organized an event, titled ‘Buransh: A Love Letter to the Hills’. Through the rally, Rotaractors and Rotarians encouraged people to recognize their responsibility toward nature and pledged to keep the mountains green. This zonal initiative—part of a broader effort within Zone 7—began with an awareness rally on Mall Road, which highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and the preservation of the mountains’ natural beauty and greenery. Subsequently, participants formed a human chain to demonstrate their solidarity for the cause.
On Mall Road, everyone took a solemn pledge to protect nature and ensure a clean, green environment for future generations. The name ‘Buransh’—a prominent flower that blooms in the mountain forests of Uttarakhand and serves as a symbol of the region’s natural beauty and biodiversity—was chosen to reflect a deep connection to the mountains. The initiative was aptly titled ‘A Love Letter to the Hills’ to convey that love for the mountains should extend beyond mere admiration of their beauty; it must be reflected in concrete actions toward their conservation. Following the rally and the human chain, a tree-planting drive was held, emphasizing the importance of planting trees for a greener future and fostering collective participation in environmental protection. The event concluded with a trekking excursion joined by members of the Rotary Club of Mussoorie. This activity provided participants with an opportunity to connect with nature and understand the importance of the mountain environment. This zonal campaign was conceptualized by Zonal Head Rtr. Yuvika Aswal (Assistant District Rotaract Representative, Zone 7) and Rtr. Mahinya Mishra (Assistant District Rotaract Secretary). Rtr. Tanush, Rtr. Khanak, and Rtr. Anumeha Gaur played a significant role in organizing and coordinating the event. Representing the Rotary Club of Mussoorie, the following individuals participated and supported the campaign: PDG Ranbir Singh, President Ashwani Mittal, Secretary Nupur Karanwal Kaintura, PP Shailendra Karanwal, PP Kuldeep Mathur, PP Sanjay Jain, PP Shalabh Garg, PP Vinesh Sanghal, PP Nitin Gupta, IPP Deepak Agarwal, Rtn.
