BJP National Vice President Tirath Singh Rawat felicitated by party in Doon

Dehradun, 2 Sep: BJP national vice‑president Tirath Singh Rawat was accorded a grand welcome at the BJP State Headquarters here today and felicitated upon his appointment as the party’s National Vice President in the presence of top party leaders including Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt. CM Dhami, while felicitating him, said that Tirath Singh Rawat’s elevation as national vice‑president is a matter of pride and honour for Uttarakhand. He added that the responsibility entrusted to Rawat has infused new energy and enthusiasm among the party workers in the state.
Dhami described Rawat as a symbol of simplicity, humility and affability, noting that he has discharged the organisational responsibilities with dedication and played a vital role in strengthening the party. He said that the national responsibility given to Rawat is recognition of his long organisational experience and commitment, and that the party will benefit from his expertise at the national level. Targeting Congress, Dhami accused it of attempting to divide Uttarakhand, a peaceful and socially harmonious state, along the caste lines. He said Congress has nothing to say on development or public welfare and is resorting to divisive politics. He asserted that the people of Uttarakhand will never allow Congress to succeed in its attempt to gain political advantage by creating social divisions.
In respect of the recent purification incident in Haldwani, Dhami launched a sharp attack on Congress and Rahul Gandhi, saying that the objectionable slogans and acts such as throwing bottles filled with urine are unacceptable in any civilised society. He said the site was purified afterwards, but it is unfortunate that Rahul Gandhi chose to politicise the matter. Dhami demanded that Gandhi explain why he did not raise his voice against such acts that hurt religious sentiments, and said Congress should have condemned them instead of viewing them through a political lens.
Dhami made it clear that the appeasement politics and tampering with religious sentiments will not be tolerated in Uttarakhand. He warned that anyone attempting to incite religious feelings, disturb the peace or challenge law and order will face strict legal action and that in Uttarakhand there is only jail for such people. He emphasised that the government will not bow to the pressure and the law will apply equally to all. The CM said that under Modi’s leadership the country is moving rapidly towards realising the vision of a developed India, and Uttarakhand too is setting new benchmarks in development, good governance and welfare. The state government has taken historic decisions to strengthen the unique identity, culture and character of Devbhoomi.
Rawat, expressing gratitude for the welcome, called upon the party workers to dedicate themselves fully to the forthcoming Assembly elections. Rawat asserted that CM Dhami is carrying forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India and that under Dhami and the state president’s leadership the party will secure victory in the 2027 Assembly elections.
He said Modi’s vision of a developed India is being realised with Dhami playing a crucial role in Uttarakhand, where many historic decisions have been taken under his leadership. He urged the party workers to reach out to people at the booth level, spread awareness about the welfare schemes and achievements of the central and state governments, and strengthen the organisation. He said the greatest strength of BJP is its cadre and the party workers, who build the organisation through their hard work and dedication, and that in BJP the worker is greater than the post.
Among those present were Rajya Sabha MP and state BJP president Mahendra Bhatt, Cabinet Minister Khajan Das, MP Naresh Bansal, state general secretaries Tarun Bansal and Deepti Rawat Bhardwaj.
