
The portals of Lord Badri Vishal were opened on Thursday (april 23) morning, following full traditional rituals and rites. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami himself was present during the ceremony. Following the opening of the portals, long queues of devotees were witnessed waiting to offer their prayers. To mark the occasion, the shrine of Badri Vishal was adorned with 24 quintals of flowers. In addition to flowers, and for the very first time, the Lord’s shrine was also decorated with fruits. The process of darshan and worship commenced immediately after the portals were opened.
The portals of Badrinath Dham—revered as Bhu Vaikunth (Earthly Abode of the Divine) and counted among the world-renowned Char Dham pilgrimage sites—have been opened amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras and traditional rituals. The portals of Lord Badri Vishal were opened for devotees’ darshan at 6:15 AM, marking the beginning of a six-month period of accessibility. On this occasion, the Badrinath temple was decorated with approximately 20 quintals of flowers, creating a breathtakingly beautiful spectacle at the shrine. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was also present to witness this auspicious event.
Badrinath Dham Portals Open at 6:15 AM
It is noteworthy that on Thursday—April 23—at 6:15 AM, the portals of Badrinath Dham were opened for devotees to offer their prayers. As the portals swung open, the entire temple complex reverberated with chants of “Jai Badri Vishal!” Thousands of people gathered to witness this historic opening, deeming themselves fortunate to be present for this special moment and to catch a glimpse of Lord Badri Vishal. Immediately upon the opening of the portals, queues of devotees formed to offer their darshan. Chief Minister Dhami himself was present in Badrinath for the occasion.
The Commencement of the Char Dham Yatra—A Journey of Faith and Devotion
With the opening of the Badrinath Dham portals, the 2026 Char Dham Yatra of Uttarakhand has now become fully operational. It is worth noting that the portals of Yamunotri and Gangotri Dham were the first to open—on April 19, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. Subsequently, the portals of Kedarnath Dham were opened on April 22. With these events now complete, the Char Dham Yatra—a pilgrimage deeply rooted in faith, devotion, and reverence—has officially commenced. Immense enthusiasm regarding the Char Dham Yatra is being witnessed among devotees.
