PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is continuing to hold interaction with the Gen-Z of the State with his ‘Yuwa Samwad’ programmes. On Thursday, he held an interaction with the youth during the Induction ceremony 2026-27 and Youth Dialogue programme held at Doon University. During the dialogue, the students raised questions on checking migration, connecting youth with employment, developing Uttarakhand as a hub of higher education, new opportunities in science, technology and artificial intelligence and finding solutions to traffic congestion in Dehradun. Responding to queries on migration and employment, the CM said the process of reverse migration is rapidly gaining momentum in the State. “Through various government schemes and our tourism, industry and film policies, we are providing new employment and self-employment opportunities to youth,’’ Dhami said. He added that the government is also working to empower self-help groups to create more livelihood opportunities at the local level. On strengthening higher education, Dhami said special emphasis is being placed on modernizing institutions and expanding infrastructure. He informed that the country’s fifth Science City is being developed in Dehradun, which will create new opportunities in science and research and give youth access to modern scientific resources. CM further said that with technological advancements, the nature of employment is changing and new avenues are emerging rapidly. He urged young people to become “future-ready” by developing skills aligned with changing technology. “The government is continuously working to connect youth with modern skills and new technologies,” he said. On the issue of traffic congestion in Dehradun, Dhami said the State government is working seriously toward a permanent solution. “Work is underway to construct elevated roads over the Bindal and Rispana rivers. Completion of these projects will improve the traffic system in the city and help resolve congestion,” he stated. CM Dhami inaugurates new facilities at Doon University DEHRADUN: Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday inaugurated the Biological Sciences Laboratory Building and the Central Library Building at Doon University, and also launched the Doon University Community Radio Station 88.4 FM during the Induction ceremony 2026-27 and Youth Dialogue programme. The Biological Sciences Laboratory has been constructed at a cost of Rs 11.2 crore and the Central Library at a cost of Rs 17.39 crore. On the occasion, the CM announced that the Central Library of Doon University will be named after Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar. He said two posts of Programme Coordinator and Technical Assistant will be created for the successful operation of the Community Radio Station. To facilitate students, two electric buses will also be arranged for Doon University. Dhami further announced that foreign language departments for Spanish, German, French, Chinese and Japanese at Doon University will be strengthened. Appropriate posts will be created in these departments to provide skill-based education to students of other institutions in the state and to improve employment opportunities for the youth. CM said projects like Science City and Astro Park are also underway in the state to encourage scientific research. The state government is strengthening higher education infrastructure with special attention to quality of education and research. New colleges and model colleges are being established, while facilities such as women’s hostels, IT labs and examination halls are being expanded. Efforts are also being made to address the teacher shortage through new recruitments.
