Sitarganj, 17 May: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday laid the foundation stone of a 150-metre span concrete bridge over the Sisuna River, connecting Shakti Farm in Sitarganj to the Sidcul area, to be constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 11.41 crore.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the construction of this important bridge will directly benefit approximately 50,000 people in the area, and the distance to reach Sidcul in Sitarganj and the Block Office in Sisuna will be reduced by approximately 9 kilometres. He said that this bridge will not only ensure smooth traffic in the area but will also provide a new impetus to economic and social development.
The Chief Minister said that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand is setting new dimensions of development and prosperity. The state government is continuously working to strengthen road, education, health, drinking water, and other infrastructure, from cities to remote mountainous areas. He said that several ambitious projects are being implemented for the development of Udham Singh Nagar district and the Shakti Farm-Sitarganj region.
The Chief Minister added that a modern dairy processing unit for milk powder, ice cream, and cheese is being established at Shakti Farms through a public-private partnership (PPP) model. Additionally, construction of an Aqua Park at Prahlad Palasia, costing approximately Rs 54 crore, is progressing rapidly, with approximately 75 percent of the work completed. Construction of the Sitarganj-Tanakpur four-lane road, a modern drainage system, various motorways, and a multi-story parking lot is also in progress.
The Chief Minister added that construction of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences’ satellite centre on 100 acres of land in Kichha, Udham Singh Nagar district, is underway at a cost of approximately Rs 351 crore. Work is also underway to construct an international airport in Pantnagar. Additionally, the region is being given a new identity through the Gadarpur and Khatima bypasses, Khatima and Kichha bus stands, sports stadiums, cycling tracks, athletics tracks, and industrial projects.
He asserted that, by restarting the Jamrani Dam Multipurpose Project, the state government is making historic progress towards meeting the drinking water and irrigation needs of the Terai region. The support price for sugarcane has also been increased by Rs 30 per quintal in the interest of farmers. He said that any development project undertaken by the state government is completed in a timely manner and dedicated to the public.
Dhami stated that the state government is committed to development as well as cultural values, social harmony, and transparent administration. He added that the state has implemented strict anti-cheating laws and made recruitment processes transparent, resulting in more than 32,000 youth gaining opportunities in government services over the past four and a half years.
On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bahuguna expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister and said that the work being done by the state government for the development of the region is historic.
