Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi launches Rs 14.55 Crore Project

Ground-breaking Ceremony held for Kimadi Motor Road widening
By Sunil SonkerMussoorie, 17 May: Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi formally laid the foundation stone for the widening of the Dehradun-Kimadi-Lambidhar-Cart Mackenzie-Company Garden motor road in the Gaziawala area, falling under the Mussoorie Assembly constituency, today. Under this project, the single-lane road stretching to Mussoorie—via Lambidhar and Basagad—will be upgraded to an intermediate lane. To be executed at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 14.55 crore, the project will also involve additional hill cutting, the construction of cross drains, retaining walls, and other infrastructure works related to road safety.
Addressing those present at the ground-breaking ceremony, Ganesh Joshi stated that this road holds immense significance for the Mussoorie region. He noted that the road widening would provide substantial relief to local residents, tourists, and daily commuters. He added that the road’s improvement would streamline traffic management, enhance travel safety, and boost tourism-related activities. The Minister emphasised that improved road connectivity would also strengthen local commerce and regional economic activities. The Cabinet Minister directed officials from the Public Works Department to maintain high quality standards during construction and to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe. He asserted that no form of negligence would be tolerated in the execution of development works. During the event, the Minister also announced that construction work for a new bridge in the Gaziawala area—estimated to cost around Rs 12 crore—would commence shortly, thereby further facilitating traffic flow within the region. Ganesh Joshi affirmed that the state government is continuously working towards strengthening road connectivity and ensuring a safe and efficient traffic system. Citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve regarding fuel conservation and environmental protection, he appealed to the public—under the banner of the “Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdan” (My India, My Contribution) campaign—to observe a “No Vehicle Day” once a week. He urged people to minimise their use of private vehicles for at least one day a week, opting instead to walk or cycle. This initiative, he noted, would not only result in fuel savings but also make a significant contribution toward environmental conservation.
A large number of local residents attended the event, including Mandal General Secretaries Kiran Manyudi and Laxman Singh Rawat; Village Head Sunil Kshetri; Vikram Thapliyal, Vinod Awasthi, Aarti, Jagdish Regmi, Seema Pundir, Jyoti Kotia, Leela Sharma, Vandana Bisht, Jitendra Rana, and Satish Sharma; Yuva Morcha Metropolitan Vice Presidents Dhirendra Singh and Anurag Singh; and Rajesh Kumar, Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department.
