PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the police and State administration to give special attention to the traffic management in the state for the New Year celebrations. He said that apart from ensuring law and order the officers should ensure that the tourists and visitors do not face any inconvenience. The CM took a review meeting with officers on law and order, tourist convenience and law and order at the State secretariat on Tuesday. He said that regular night patrolling should be done by the police and senior officers should also conduct on-site inspections of various areas from time to time to strengthen the law and order and traffic management systems. The CM said that those engaging in criminal activities in the State will not be spared. He also directed that adequate security arrangements at major tourist destinations, high-traffic and crowded areas of the State should be made. The CM instructed that on New Year eve, the districts should ensure proper traffic management, adequate infrastructure and parking, special monitoring of uncontrolled vehicle movement and drunk driving and adequate security arrangements around liquor shops. He also directed officials to ensure the safety, convenience, and hospitality of all tourists visiting the State. The CM said that it should be ensured that the public and tourists are not unnecessarily harassed in the name of checking. In the meeting the CM also directed that the district administration, Municipal Corporation, police, transport and MDDA should form task forces to remove encroachments from the roads in Dehradun. He said that proper arrangements should be made for tourists visiting the State in winters. The CM added that keeping public convenience in mind, adequate arrangements of street lights and bonfires should be ensured for winter.
