Dehradun, 8 Apr: Teachers and non-teaching staff working on attachment or deputation for a long time in various schools, departmental offices, and other departments under the School Education Department will be sent back to their original places of posting.
All Chief Education Officers (CEOs) across the state have been instructed to submit a detailed list from their respective districts to the Director General of School Education within one week.
School Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat has taken a major step to ensure effective utilisation of human resources and accountability in the education department. He has sought detailed information about teachers and non-teaching personnel who have been attached or deputed to different schools, departmental offices, or other departments for extended periods.
The required details include the employee’s name, designation, original place of posting, current place of work, duration of deputation or attachment, and the reasons for such arrangements. All district Chief Education Officers have been directed to submit comprehensive data of such personnel at various levels within a week so that those working away from their original postings can be reassigned.
Dr Rawat stated that the government aims to strengthen the education system, enhance transparency, and make it more result-oriented. Ensuring adequate availability of teachers in schools and assessing the necessity of staff posted elsewhere is essential to achieving this goal.
He noted that while there are frequent complaints about teacher shortages in schools, a significant number of teachers and staff are working in offices or other departments on deputation or attachment.
Dr Rawat further said that personnel who have been on deputation or attachment for more than three years will undergo a comprehensive review. Those whose deputation is found unnecessary will be sent back to their original postings. Relaxation will be granted only to personnel who are differently-abled or those placed under special circumstances.
He added that the return of teachers will not disrupt academic activities but will instead help ensure better quality education for students.
Dr Rawat also instructed all concerned officials to provide accurate and verified information within the stipulated timeframe. Strict action will be taken against anyone found negligent or withholding facts.
He emphasised that systemic reforms in the education department are among the government’s top priorities, and continuous concrete steps are being taken in this direction. This initiative is another significant effort to make the state’s education system more effective, disciplined, and outcome-oriented.
