PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun  Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that Shri Madan Mohan Malaviya Prachya Shodh Sansthan, Rishikul, Haridwar should be developed as a major centre for Ayurveda, Yoga and the Indian knowledge tradition. He said that Ayurveda, medical tourism, Yoga, astrology and Vedic mathematics should be given special prominence in its overall development. The CM reviewed the proposed master plan for overall development of Rishikul at his residence on Friday.  He opined that the institute should become an effective bridge between the Indian knowledge tradition and modern research. The CM averred that Ayush, Yoga and Sanskrit are the key identities of Uttarakhand. This unique identity of the State should be prominently reflected in the development of Rishikul, he said. In the meeting, the CM directed that the architecture of the Rishikul campus should be developed while keeping in mind the traditional architectural styles. The exterior and facades of the buildings should reflect ancient architectural traditions, while the facilities and amenities provided on the campus should be state-of-the-art. Dhami said that the project’s core concept should get clearly reflected in every aspect. ” Haridwar holds special religious and spiritual significance due to river Ganga. A large number of devotees and tourists from across the country and the world visit Haridwar. Therefore, this uniqueness of Haridwar should be central to the Rishikul development concept,” he said. On a stern note, the CM directed officials to ensure timely completion of all project-related work and said clear stages and deadlines should be set for various tasks, ensuring their completion within two years in a phased manner.  He also directed that regular reviews of the work be ensured. Chief secretary Anand Bardhan, principal secretary R K Sudhanshu, R Meenakshi Sundaram, secretary Dhiraj Garbyal, Deepak Kumar, Yugal Kishore Pant, Ranjana Rajguru, vice- chairperson Haridwar-Roorkee Development Authority Sonika and other officers attended the meeting.
