PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun  In a major decision, the Uttarakhand government has decided to monetise five inspection bungalows and guest houses of the Public Works Department (PWD) located in prime locations. These properties are located in Ranikhet, Uttarkashi, Duggalbitta (Rudraprayag), Harsil and Rishikesh. A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the State cabinet chaired by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday. Informing about the decision, Secretary Shailesh Bagauli said that in the first phase five inspection bungalows of the PWD would be monetised. The cabinet approved the proposal to monetise these bungalows by the Uttarakhand Investment and Infrastructure Development Board (UIIDB) . The ownership of these bungalows will continue to remain with the PWD while UIIDB will act as transaction advisor. Bagauli said that the monetisation decision will help in better upkeep of these properties, better facilities to the tourists and ensure more revenue for the department. In another decision, the cabinet approved the proposal to constitute Uttarakhand State Allied and Healthcare Council to monitor and standardise para medical courses in the State. Bagauli said that the council has been set up under the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Profession Act-2021.  The cabinet also approved the chief minister women and child development multifaceted corpus fund regulation of the Women and Child Development department for usage of the cess on the foreign liquor and beer. The State government imposes a cess of Rs three on sale of every bottle of liquor and beer in the State. A sum of Rs one each on sale of each bottle is collected for development of sports, for construction of cow shelters and for welfare of orphan children and destitute and poor women. The regulation mandates usage of the cess amount through the women and child development committees. The proposal for reorganisation of the departmental structure of the Uttarakhand Biodiversity Board was also approved by the cabinet on Wednesday. The cabinet also endorsed the proposal to create 18 new posts in the Mines and Geology.
