Dhami watches ‘Gaudaan’ film based on conservation of cows

my uttarakhand news Bureau
Dehradun, 11 Feb: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today watched the film, ‘Gaudaan’, based on cow protection, at Centrio Mall here. After the film show, the CM described it as a meaningful and inspiring effort rooted in Indian culture, rural life and the long-standing tradition of cow conservation.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhami said that, in Indian culture, the cow holds a position of special reverence. He observed that the cow is not merely a symbol of faith but also forms the foundation of the rural economy, organic agriculture, nutrition and environmental conservation. Films such as ‘Gaudaan’, he asserted, play an important role in spreading awareness about cow protection in society and in connecting the younger generation with their cultural roots.
On this occasion, the CM also shared that the State Government has declared the film tax-free in Uttarakhand so that a larger number of people may watch it and awareness regarding cow conservation may be disseminated widely. He stated that the decision reflects the Government’s commitment to encouraging films that convey a positive social message.
Dhami further stated that the State Government has been consistently making efforts towards cow protection and promotion. Several schemes are being implemented across the State for the strengthening of gaushalas, protection of stray cattle, encouragement to livestock rearers and enhancement of milk production. The Government’s objective, he said, is to strengthen a cow-based rural economy in order to promote self-employment and self-reliance in rural areas.
Conveying his best wishes to the film’s producer Vinod Kumar Choudhary and the entire team, Dhami remarked that the sacred land of Uttarakhand has a rich legacy of art, literature and culture. He reiterated that the State Government is committed to developing Uttarakhand as a major centre for film production.
He added that an effective film policy has been implemented in the State, under which film-makers are being offered attractive subsidies, a single-window clearance, a simplified permission process for shooting and encouragement to local artistes and technicians. Positive outcomes of the new film policy are already visible, with a marked increase in filming activities in the State.
Dhami also observed that Uttarakhand’s natural beauty, spiritual ambience, mountain culture and diverse locations make it highly suitable for film shooting. The Government’s aim is to attract more films to be shot in the State, thereby generating employment opportunities for local youth and providing renewed momentum to tourism.
The CM stated that the Film Development Council has been strengthened and continuous efforts are being made towards the development of film studios and related infrastructure in the State. He expressed hope that inspiring films such as ‘Gaudaan’ would convey a positive message to society, enhance awareness about cow conservation and play a significant role in giving Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage wider recognition at the national and international levels.
Cabinet Ministers Satpal Maharaj, Ganesh Joshi and Rekha Arya, along with other public representatives and a large number of viewers, were present on the occasion and they too watched the film.
