PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the first phase of the Rs 185.20 crore  Sharada Corridor project in Tanakpur on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that the project is central to faith, culture, heritage, and sustainable development of the State. He said the corridor aims to develop the valley from Banbasa to Mata Rankochi temple into a confluence of religion, nature, and employment. “This land will no longer be merely a centre of faith, but will also usher in a new wave of economic prosperity and opportunities into the lives of its people,’’ he said. Dhami said the Sharada Ghat Redevelopment project is being initiated in the first phase with an estimated cost of Rs 185.20 crore to give the banks of the Sharada river an environmentally sensitive, clean, safe, and attractive look. The project will include construction of Ghats, Arti sites, sanitation and resting facilities, beautification, easy access, pedestrian paths, lighting and beautification work. The CM averred that the Arti site will be built using international technology, featuring modern amenities such as rainwater harvesting and floor cooling systems. Flood-resistant structures will regulate the river flow to ensure the safety of the surrounding areas. He claimed that the project would inject new momentum into religious tourism, local economy and generate employment. He described the project as a unique model from a social, cultural, and environmental perspective that would become a symbol of development for the entire region.  The chief minister said that the Purnagiri and Mata Rankochi areas will become the religious and cultural centres of the corridor.
