Dehradun, 23 Oct: On the occasion of the Silver Jubilee year of statehood for Uttarakhand, Pravasi (non-resident) Uttarakhandis will gather at Doon University on 5 November for the second Pravasi Uttarakhandi Conference. The one-day event will provide a platform for participants to reflect on the state’s 25-year journey and share their ideas and recommendations for shaping its future growth and development.
The registration process for the conference is currently in progress and will remain open until late night on 24 October 2025. Around 200 delegates from various states have already registered through the official website of the Pravasi Uttarakhand Cell- www.pravasiuttarakhandi.uk.gov.in.
Initiated under the directions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Pravasi Uttarakhandi Conference series was launched in 2024, when the first event was held with participation from 200 delegates representing 17 states. The number of participants this year is expected to be significantly higher.
Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister RK Sudhanshu shared that the conference will begin at 10 am at the Nityanand Auditorium of Doon University. CM Dhami will inaugurate the event and interact directly with participants during a one-hour session. He also shared that the discussions will be conducted in two thematic segments, the first focusing on environmental concerns, for which PCCF SP Subudhi of the Forest Department has been designated as the nodal officer, and the second covering health, education, and women’s empowerment, with Doon University Vice Chancellor Professor Surekha Dangwal serving as the nodal officer.
Delegates from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, and other states have already registered to participate. The concluding session will be followed by a cultural programme at Doon University in the evening.
Commenting on this, CM Dhami observed that the conference seeks to bring together Uttarakhandis residing outside the state, reconnect them with their roots, and encourage their active involvement in the state’s development. He added that the feedback received from the first edition had been highly positive and expressed confidence that this year’s event would further strengthen the relationship between Uttarakhand and its diaspora. He also extended a warm invitation to all Pravasi Uttarakhandis to participate in the conference, noting that their ideas would play an important role in shaping the state’s development roadmap for the years ahead.
