Gov presents book on Economic Transitions in Himalayas to Pres Murmu

Dehradun, 2 Nov: Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) on Sunday presented a book titled “Mountains of Labour; Currents of Change — Women’s Livelihood and Economic Transitions in the Himalayan Region and Uttarakhand” to the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Niketan, Dehradun.

The book, prepared under the “One University, One Research” initiative launched at the Governor’s behest, focuses on the livelihoods of women in Uttarakhand and the Himalayan region, highlighting the economic transformations, challenges, and empowerment experienced by them.

The publication is the result of a year-long research study conducted by Doon University. It has been jointly authored by Prof Surekha Dangwal (Vice Chancellor, Doon University), Prof Rajendra P Mamgain, and Ms. Shruti Dhaundiyal.

On this occasion, Prof Dangwal, was also present.
