Dehradun, 20 Sep: Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University, Dr VK Saraswat, will be conferred the INAE Lifetime Contribution Award in Engineering 2026 by the Indian National Academy of Engineering.
Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University and renowned Indian scientist Dr VK Saraswat has made significant contributions over several decades in the fields of defence research, technological development, and innovation. He has served as the Director General of DRDO and the Chief Scientific Adviser to the Defence Minister. He played a key role in important projects related to the indigenous development of missiles such as Prithvi, Dhanush, Prahaar, and Agni-5, the Ballistic Missile Defence System, the Tejas fighter aircraft, and the nuclear submarine, INS Arihant. Dr Saraswat is also a member of NITI Aayog and continues to contribute to strategic defence technology, cybersecurity, and alternative energy. He has been honoured with the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards by the Government of India.
The INAE Lifetime Contribution Award in Engineering is a prestigious honour presented to distinguished individuals for their exceptional and long-standing contributions to engineering, research, and innovation. The award has also been conferred on eminent personalities such as former President Dr APJ. Abdul Kalam, Ratan Tata, Narayana Murthy, and Azim Premji.
Dr VK Saraswat receiving this honour is a significant recognition of his decades-long scientific journey, technological contributions to nation-building, and visionary approach that has strengthened India’s defence capabilities. His achievements stand as an example of work that lays a strong foundation for the country’s self-reliant future in science and technology.
