Dehradun, 30 Sep: To mark the conclusion of Hindi Fortnight at the Law College Dehradun, Uttaranchal University organized essay and speech competitions to encourage students’ creativity, expression skills, and interest in the Hindi language, to promote writing and oratory skills, and to develop independent and logical thinking on contemporary issues. Abhishek Joshi, Executive Director of the University, was present as the Chief Guest.
In the competition, students presented their thoughts on the assigned topic through writing. The essay competition’s topic was “Cybercrime and Financial Fraud and the Common Citizen: The Biggest Challenge Facing Digital India.” Participants presented their ideas effectively and creatively, keeping in mind the social, economic, and contemporary aspects of the topic.
The topic of the speech competition was “Freebies in India: A Right to Public Welfare or a Blow to the Taxpayer?” Participants effectively presented their views on various aspects of the topic. Students shared their thoughts on various aspects, including the need for public welfare schemes, the benefits they provide to vulnerable sections of society, and the economic impact of these schemes. Through their speeches, participants presented their arguments on the usefulness of public welfare schemes, as well as on topics such as the financial expenditure on government schemes, the role of taxpayers, and the effective implementation of these schemes. Students reinforced their arguments with facts, examples, and logical reasoning.
During the competition, the judges evaluated participants based on content, language, expression, presentation, originality, and logic. Siddhika Tomar won first place in the essay writing competition, and Shreya Shukla won second place. Ayushi Chaudhary won first place in the speech competition, while Anushka Aswal and Maitri Pal shared second place. All the participants who performed exceptionally well were honoured for their excellent performance.
On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna, Principal Prof. Poonam Rawat, Head of Department Prof. Radheshyam Jha, Amit Chaudhary, Dr. Bhavna Arora, Dr. Ujjwal Singh, Nandini Majumdar and a large number of students were among those present.
