Dehradun, 15 Apr: The Himachal Pradesh Foundation Day was celebrated on Wednesday at the Lok Bhavan, here. The event was attended by students of Himachal Pradesh studying in institutions located in Dehradun, along with other participants. On this occasion, students presented captivating cultural performances in traditional attire, showcasing the rich folk culture of Himachal Pradesh.
Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) participated in the programme and extended his heartfelt greetings to everyone on the occasion of Himachal Pradesh Foundation Day. Appreciating the glorious history and rich cultural heritage of Himachal Pradesh, he said that the bond between Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand is not only geographical but also deeply rooted in cultural, spiritual, and natural connections. He noted that both states are known as “Devbhoomi”, where purity, folk traditions, faith, simple living, and respect for nature are equally reflected.
The Governor stated that celebrating foundation days of different states is not merely an event but a powerful medium to understand and embrace the country’s diversity. Such programmes provide an opportunity to learn about each other’s language, attire, cuisine, folk art, and traditions, thereby promoting mutual harmony, dialogue, and cultural integration among states. He added that initiatives like “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” play a vital role in strengthening national unity and integrity.
The event was also attended by Secretary to the Governor Ravinath Raman, Additional Secretary Reena Joshi, Vice Chairperson of Sai Institute of Technology, Dehradun, Rani Arora, Public Relations Officer Shruti Agrawal, Kamini Sharma, Archana Kandari, Asha Pal, and students.
