PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that industry-friendly policies of the State government have yielded positive results. He claimed that more than 29,000 new MSME units have come up in the State in the last few years and more than 1.27 lakh youngsters have been employed in them. He was addressing the seventh Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Uttarakhand Industrial Summit and Expo -2026 in Haridwar on Thursday. Dhami said that apart from being a spiritual city, Haridwar has also emerged as a major centre for industrial development in Uttarakhand. The CM said that establishing industries creates new employment opportunities, promotes new technology and innovation and strengthens the local economy. He said that improving road, rail and air connectivity has created a favourable environment for industrial and commercial activities in the State. Dhami said that start-ups and innovation are being specially encouraged so that the youth of the State do not just become job seekers but also become job providers. With the implementation of the Uttarakhand Start-up Policy, a venture fund of Rs 200 crore has been arranged to provide financial support to start-ups. He said that an integrated manufacturing cluster is being developed in Khurpiya, Udham Singh Nagar. This project will give a new impetus to the industrial development of the State and create new investment and employment opportunities. He added that work is underway to establish special industrial parks in Chamoli, Pauri and Almora to encourage small industries. The CM said that special attention is being paid to connecting the State’s traditional products, handicrafts and local enterprises with the larger markets. Through schemes like ‘One District, Two Products’ efforts are being made to give local products a new identity at the national and international level. The CM said Uttarakhand has been ranked among the “Top Achievers” in the Business Reform Action plan and ranked first in its category in the Export Preparedness Index 2024. He called on entrepreneurs and investors to take advantage of the opportunities available in Uttarakhand and become partners in investment and job creation. In his address, cabinet minister Pradeep Batra said that industry is the backbone of the country’s economy. He said that this event organised in Haridwar will establish a new dimension in Uttarakhand’s industrial development. Ranipur MLA Adesh Chauhan, former cabinet minister Swami Yatiswaranand and others attended the programme.
