PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun Welcoming the judgment in the Ankita Bhandari murder case, the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the judgment shows that nobody, however powerful he might be, is not above the law. He said that such a judgement will set up a precedent for the future. Dhami said that Ankita Bhandari was the daughter and sister of Pahad and her murder shook everyone. He said that his government had taken a firm decision that justice will be ensured to Ankita. Dhami said that all the investigation agencies and the Police were directed to arrest the accused in the case. He said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by a lady IPS officer was constituted. The SIT did a splendid job of collecting evidence and the case was consistently taken in the court due to which the accused were denied bail. Public prosecutors of choice were provided to the family of Ankita. Dhami said that the judgement was finally delivered after about 1000 days and all the accused were convicted and sentenced for life imprisonment. He said that the State government ensured that justice is delivered to the family of Ankita Bhandari.
