Jugran expresses dismay at failure to establish ‘National Law University’

Dehradun, 6 Feb: BJP leader Ravindra Jugran has expressed concern and displeasure over the fact that the Uttarakhand National Law University has still not taken shape on the ground. He said today that, in this regard, he would soon meet the Higher Education Minister and the Chief Minister and hold discussions to ensure that the university is started at the earliest.
Ravindra Jugran stated that although the National Law University Act was enacted in 2011 and an amended Act was also passed in 2018, the university has yet to become a reality. He said that the National Law University was proposed to be established at Rani Pokhari (Listra Badh area) in Dehradun, for which a provision of ten acres of land was also to be made. However, even now, construction of the university has not begun, which is a matter of serious concern.
He further said that almost all states in the country have National Law Universities, yet despite the Act being passed in 2011, construction work has not even commenced, which is unfortunate. Ravindra Jugran added that the establishment of the university would have provided affordable and quality legal education to the youth of Uttarakhand, along with better employment opportunities, and it is extremely regrettable that this has not happened.
He emphasised that the field of law offers immense possibilities at both national and international levels and is a major sector for employment generation. Ravindra Jugran concluded by stating that this apathy, negligence, and insensitivity are pushing Uttarakhand backward instead of taking it forward.
