PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun The monsoon resulting in landslides and other factors has disrupted the routine life of thousands of people across Uttarakhand. A total of 111 roads are blocked in various parts of the State due to landslides and other factors resulting from the monsoon. Consistent rain since Monday night in various parts of the State caused landslides and waterlogging which disrupted routine life in the State. In the provisional State capital Dehradun, the administration announced a holiday in all schools early on Tuesday morning. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), Dehradun has the maximum number of blocked roads. A total of 27 roads were reported blocked in Dehradun district on Tuesday evening, while 17 were blocked in Tehri district, 16 in Pithoragarh, 11 in Uttarkashi, 12 each in Chamoli and Uttarkashi, eight in Bageshwar, seven in Nainital, six in Pauri, five in Pithoragarh and two in Almora. It will be recalled that the State authorities had conducted a “pre-monsoon” mock drill to prepare for the rainy season about a week after the advent of the monsoon in Uttarakhand. As seen in the past, the authorities are holding meetings and issuing the usual directions to the departments concerned and the public after the impact of rain and its effects.
