PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Haridwar A large number of people greeted chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and thanked the government for implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the State during a rally held in Libberhedi area of the district on Sunday. Dhami drove a tractor to reach the programme venue. Addressing the gathering, the chief minister said that implementation of the UCC in Uttarakhand had fulfilled the dream of BR Ambedkar, the maker of the constitution as the same law now applies to people from different sections and religions.Stating that Uttarakhand is the first State to implement the UCC in India, he thanked the people of Manglaur Assembly constituency for organising the rally, adding that this amounts to honouring all the people of Uttarakhand. The CM pointed out that the nation is progressing consistently under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Various important and historic decisions have been taken in the interests of farmers including the introduction of Kisan Samman Nidhi, fair price for farmers and crop insurance, and increasing the Kisan credit card amount from Rs three lakh to Rs five lakh. He said that work on seven new projects worth Rs 14,000 crore is being started in the interests of farmers while farmers are also being provided 80 per cent subsidy in horticulture. Dhami further stressed that the State government will not spare any person found indulging in corruption. Strict action will be taken against officers and personnel found involved in corruption. In the Haridwar land scam, strict action had been taken against IAS and PCS officers, the CM added. On the occasion, the CM also announced various work in the Manglaur Vidhan Sabha constituency. These include the construction of a sports stadium named after Maharaja Surajmal in the Libberhedi Gram Sabha and asaphaltisation of the Cirki Rajwahe ki Patri route from Manglaur to Gurukul, Landaura bypass (Harchandpur) bridge. MLA Pradeep Batra, former MLA Swami Yatishwaranand, vice chairman (Disaster Management) Vinay Rohila, Roorkee mayor Anita Agrawal and other public representatives were also present on the occasion.
