Mussoorie, 14 Oct: A moment of negligence while driving can cost someone their life. Failing to wear a helmet, ignoring seat belts, speeding, and driving under the influence can lead to serious road accidents. In this context, a road safety awareness workshop was organised in Mussoorie as part of the BJP’s ‘Seva Sampark Abhiyan-2026’, marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. Students from Hampton Court School participated and were educated about traffic regulations.During the workshop, Narendra Singh Gehlawat, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mussoorie Kotwali, briefed the students on crucial road safety rules. He emphasized that adhering to traffic regulations is the responsibility of every citizen. Even slight carelessness on the road can result in a serious accident; therefore, remaining vigilant and following traffic rules while driving is essential. The SHO highlighted the importance of wearing helmets, fastening seat belts in four-wheelers, driving within prescribed speed limits, and obeying traffic signals (not jumping red lights). He stated that the objective of road safety is not merely to avoid fines but to safeguard one’s own life and the lives of others. Adhering to rules can help prevent road accidents and untimely deaths. Special emphasis was also placed on de-addiction during the workshop. Students were informed that driving under the influence impairs a driver’s decision-making and reaction capabilities, thereby increasing the risk of accidents. A message was conveyed to the youth to stay away from substance abuse and to raise awareness about this issue among their families and communities. The primary objective of the workshop was to foster awareness regarding road safety rules among the general public and students. He noted that the participation of the youth could help disseminate the message of road safety to a wider audience. With this objective in mind, Yuva Morcha workers are also being involved in the campaign so that they can encourage people in their respective areas to drive safely and adhere to traffic rules.
BJP Mussoorie Mandal President Rajat Agarwal, Councilor Vijay Bindwal, Ashish Joshi, Yuva Morcha President Sachin Panwar, and Ritik Bijalwan, along with other BJP workers, were present at the workshop.
